The Spanish and British States negotiate safe corridors without quarantine with the islands for this summer<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Fuerteventura Tourist Board reported this morning on statements by the United Kingdom’s Secretary for Transport, Grant Shapps, who said this Thursday that the traffic light that will be set on May 17 to classify the different countries based on the indices of Covid and vaccination, will take into account the data of the islands separately from those of the nation to which they belong.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, he trusts that the high vaccination figures of the islands that are preferred destinations of the British, such as the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, will fall within the green color regardless of the situation of the respective countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

It should be remembered that the British Government hopes that by May 17, some 30 countries may be on the green list, which will facilitate international travel because the British who spend their holidays there will not have to comply with a quarantine upon their return .<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Secretary of Transport, Grant Shapps, the traffic light will separate the data of the islands that are part of the preferred summer destinations of the British, with respect to the figures of each of the countries to which those islands belong<\/span><\/p>\n

“This paves the way for the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Azores, Madeira and Malta to be on the list of destinations in green even though Spain and Portugal, for example, were in amber or red at the British traffic light”, says hosteltur ..<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

This will be possible, according to Shapps, \u201cbecause these islands have a low prevalence of Covid and instead, high percentages of the vaccinated population, which places them well to be able to be on the green list. In fact, Shapps estimates that thirty destinations could be on the green list for this summer, \u201daccording to The Telegraph.<\/span><\/p>\n

Safe air corridors<\/span><\/h4>\n

According to the same medium, Fernando Vald\u00e9s, Secretary of State for Tourism of Spain, has confirmed that \u201cthe opening of safe air corridors between the two countries is on the table of negotiations between Spain and the United Kingdom. These corridors would make it possible to avoid quarantines, but only if the use of vaccination passports that facilitate the return of safe trips becomes widespread \u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
