The La Oliva City Council, through the Department of Citizen Security, led by Mayor Isaí Blanco, has created a first aid post on Lobos Island. In collaboration with the Fuerteventura Island Council, which has provided land to provide the service, this responds to a growing demand for assistance to visitors to the island in the event of an emergency. According to the Civil Protection Service, calls requiring assistance for injuries, dizziness, and dehydration on the island have increased by 30%, with 70% of these cases requiring the dispatch of emergency personnel from Fuerteventura, with an average response time of 45 minutes. This implementation therefore improves response times in the event of an incident, providing visitors with early assistance in the event of an accident.

The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, emphasizes the need to respond to the population’s demand for an assistance service for minor incidents that may occur to visitors to the island: “Through the implementation of this post, we continue to increase services provided by the Security and Emergencies department, providing visitors with early assistance and reducing waiting times in case of need for first aid.”

“Furthermore, the goal is to continue improving this service center, including its environmental protection, as we intend to incorporate materials that emphasize our efforts to preserve the environment,” the mayor stated.

This action continues the local government’s commitment to improving the municipality’s safety. La Oliva opens a first aid post on Lobos Island.
